Call for Tutorial Proposals

Home > Contributions > Call for Tutorial Proposals

The ICPR-2012 Organizing Committee invites proposals for tutorials to be held at the 21st International Conference on Pattern Recognition (www.icpr2012.org). The tutorials must be half (or full)-day and will be held on November 11th, 2012, immediately before the start of the main conference.

We seek proposals for tutorials on core techniques and areas of knowledge that enjoy broad interest within the ICPR community. We are interested in tutorials on established or emerging research topics within the field itself, but we also welcome tutorials from related research fields or application areas provided that they are of sufficient interest to the ICPR community. The ideal tutorial should attract a wide audience. It should be broad enough to provide a gentle introduction to the chosen research area, but it should also cover the most important contributions in depth. Proposals that exclusively focus on the presenters' own work or commercial presentations are not eligible.

Guideline for ICPR2012 Tutorial Proposals

Submission Requirements

To propose a tutorial, a PDF file containing the following information must be sent to the ICPR 2012 Tutorial Co-chairs, Eisaku Maeda (maeda.eisaku(at)lab.ntt.co.jp) and Andreas Dengel (andreas.dengel(at)dfki.de) by April 30, 2012. You should receive an acknowledgement of receipt by email within a few working days. If you would like to so-called a full-day tutorial, please propose two half-day tutorials (ex. kernel method elementary and kernel method advanced, or object recognition (I) and object recognition (II).)

  1. Tutorial title and abstract.
  2. Proposer's name, address, email, and short bio-sketch.
  3. Names of lecturers and short bio-sketches (if proposer(s) are not lecturers).
  4. A course description in syllabus form.
  5. Target audience.
  6. Brief discussion of why and to whom the workshop is of interest.

Responsibilities of ICPR2012 Committee

  1. Providing a meeting venue with necessary equipment and logistical support for the tutorials including support staff in each room.
  2. Determining the tutorial time (together with the organizers).
  3. Duplicating tutorial materials and distributing to the participants.

Responsibilities of Tutorial Organizer

  1. Providing tutorial chairs with a legible PDF copy of their tutorial notes that is suitable for printing (with all fonts embedded) by the deadline.
  2. Presenting the tutorial at ICPR2012.

The amount of registration fee will be set by ICPR 2012 and will be the same for all tutorials. ICPR 2012 reserves the right to cancel any tutorial if the above responsibilities are not fulfilled, if deadlines are missed, or if too few attendees register for the tutorial to support the cost of hosting the tutorials.
