The ICPR 2012 Workshop Chairs invite workshop proposals for the 21st International Conference on Pattern Recognition (www.icpr2012.org). The workshops must be full-day and will be held on November 11th, 2012, immediately before the start of the main conference.

The ICPR 2012 workshops will provide an informal setting where participants will have opportunities to discuss technical topics in an atmosphere that fosters the active exchange of ideas. Members from all segments of the pattern recognition community are invited to submit workshop proposals for review. The topics of the workshops should be such that the workshops do not divert papers from the main conference. Each proposal will be assessed for its scientific content, proposed structure and overall relevance. Workshop organizers will be responsible for inviting speakers and ensuring their participation, submission and review of papers, and structuring leading discussion sessions.

Each workshop organizing committee will be responsible for preparing a Call for Papers by February 6, 2012.

ICPR 2012 will be responsible for the following:

- Providing a meeting venue with necessary equipment and logistical supports for the workshop including coffee breaks and supporting staff in each room.
- Duplicating workshop notes (up to a total of 100 pages per participant) and distributing them to participants. Note that workshop papers will not be included in the ICPR 2012 proceedings. Workshop organizers are encouraged to find an alternative means of publishing their workshop proceedings.

To propose a workshop, a PDF file containing the following information must be sent to the ICPR 2012 Workshop Chairs, Yoichi Sato (ysato(at)iis.u-tokyo.ac.jp) and Rahul Sukthankar (rahuls(at)cs.cmu.edu) by January 6, 2012. You should receive an acknowledgement of receipt by email within a few working days.

Covering the costs of workshop

The amount of registration fee will be set by ICPR 2012 and will be the same for all workshops. ICPR 2012 reserves the right to cancel any workshop if there are too few registrations for the workshop by the early registration deadline to cover the costs of hosting the workshop from the above-mentioned revenue of ICPR 2012.

Workshop sponsorship

If necessary, workshop organizers should obtain a sponsorship for the workshop from IAPR Conferences and Meetings Committee (http://www.iapr.org/conferences/applications.php). Otherwise, the workshop will not be sponsored by IAPR, and therefore the name and logo of IAPR cannot be used for the workshop.
